Expert Answers about Chevrolet Adjustable Trailer Coupler

  • Can Master Lock Adjustable Trailer Coupler Locks be Keyed Alike?
  • Though we do have many coupler locks which can be keyed alike, unfortunately the Master Lock Adjustable Trailer Coupler Lock, # 2847DAT, is not one of them. There is an adjustable coupler lock which offers plenty of convenience in the BOLT Trailer Coupler Lock, # BL7025289. This lock can be coded to the ignition key of your 2004 Toyota Tundra so you do not have to carry any extra keys. I have added a link to a review of this lock, as well as the link to our page displaying each of our...

  • How to Mount an Adjustable Trailer Coupler
  • Adjustable trailer couplers are not going to mount to your truck; they will attach to the frame of your trailer. Some of the adjustable couplers, such as the Bulldog Cast Head # BDA2563C0317 come with the mounting hardware to weld onto the frame of your trailer. Others, such as the Demco # DM15791-81, come with the channel bracket # DM66134 and mounting hardware # DM6166 separately. I've added a link to our page with each of our 2-5/16" adjustable trailer couplers for you to take a look at.

  • Will An Adjustable Trailer Coupler Help With Clearance On A Horse Trailer With Weight Distribution
  • If you use the Bulldog Adjustable Trailer Coupler, # BDA256C0317, with the Bulldog Adjustable Channel Bracket, # BDAC3000300, it is adjustable and can raise the coupler height, which could keep the trailer from being level with the vehicle. This will cause problems when hooking up and turning with your weight distribution system. With the coupler being higher it will not allow the spring bars to work properly and distribute the load evenly to the vehicle and the trailer. So the weight distribution...

  • Is Bulldog Gooseneck Coupler Compatible with Temco Top Crank Adjustment Coupler?
  • It sounds like the Bulldog coupler # BD028900 may work for your application. This coupler adjusts 7 inches and uses an inner tube that is 4 inches fitting into an outer tube that is 4-1/2 inches. Without knowing the component of the Temco coupler, I can't confirm a fit, but if your outer tube is 4-1/2 inches, you should be able to make it work with minor adjustments because you will be doing a custom application.

  • Can Grade 8 Bolts on an Adjustable Trailer Coupler Be Replaced with Hitch Pins
  • I spoke to my contact at Bulldog and they cannot recommend substituting the grade 8 bolts that came with the coupler for a set of hitch pins. This would void the warranty of the coupler and more than likely a few SAE requirements. If you choose to do so anyway then you would need a hitch pin with a 5/8" diameter and a usable span of at least 3-1/2" for which you can use part # 325-GH-099.

  • Can the Tightness of Bulldog A-Frame Trailer Coupler BD43805W0317 be Adjusted
  • The latch mechanism on the Bulldog coupler # BD43805W0317 is a basic latch like # F660801. There is some adjustment available, nothing underneath, but it is basically just the threaded part that holds the top and bottom sections together than can be adjusted. The coupler, when secured around the ball, needs to be able to move around the ball, just not pull up and off of it. If it was tight around the ball it would bind up and something would break because trailers need to move and pivot...

  • Should I Replace the Dexter Zinc-Plated Straight-Tongue Coupler item T4853100?
  • There's no adjustments or replacement parts available for the Dexter Zinc-Plated Straight-Tongue Coupler item # T4853100 you were looking at. If this is the same one that's on your trailer I do recommend replacing it if you are concerned about it coming off of your hitch ball. If this isn't the one you have on your trailer, go ahead and email me back the part number or model of your current coupler and I will see if there are any replacement parts.

  • Recommended Lunette Ring for the Demco Trailer Coupler w/ Adjustable Channel
  • Yes, the Demco Trailer Coupler w/ 5-Position Adjustable Channel item # DM6125-97 can also be used with a Lunette ring. The adjustable channel is 3" wide on the inside of the channel and the bolt holes are spaced at 2" apart. The Lunette ring fits 3" channels and has an identical bolt spacing. • How to Adjust etrailer Weld-On A-Frame 2-5/16-Inch Coupler # CA5400
  • The etrailer Weld-On A-Frame 2-5/16-Inch Coupler, part # CA5400, does not have any adjustment screw to enable you to take up the slack in the fit with your hitch ball. This coupler is produced by a stamping process and this type of manufacturing method will have some slight variances from one unit to another. The 1/4-inch play you find is fairly typical. You can test the security of the attachment at the hitch ball by using your trailer jack to lift the nose of the trailer while the coupler...

The coupler will fit within the shank's 3 inch wide channel and the bolt hole spacing on the coupler (2 inches apart on center) is compatible with the 1 inch spacing on the shank. I have attached a couple of short video reviews that you can check out as well.

  • Weld-On Square Gooseneck Trailer Coupler
  • We do have weld-on gooseneck trailer couplers that are 4-1/2 inches square, they are complete couplers as I'm not 100 percent certain what you are referring to by changing the coupler at the base, unless you mean welding it on. For a weld-on gooseneck you can use either of the following: - Ram Gooseneck Coupler - 7" Adjustment - Square - 2-5/16" Ball - 30K # GCSQTW-30008 - Ram Gooseneck Coupler - 8" Adjustment - Square - 2-5/16" Ball - 25K # GCSQ-25008 I have added links below to video...

  • Trailer Coupler Lock For When Trailer is Attached
  • There is not a trailer coupler lock with a cover for when the coupler is attached to your trailer; the only option for a lock in that instance is indeed a pin lock. If you are okay going that route, use the Adjustable Trailer Coupler Latch Lock - 1/2" to 2-1/2" Span # e98883.

  • Compatibility Of Flash Steel Adjustable Ball Mount With UFP A-160 Surge Coupler On Boat Trailer
  • Yes, the Flash Solid Steel Adjustable 2-Ball Mount # FA49-00-5900 will have enough clearance for the UFP A-160 surge coupler on your new boat trailer. While the head of this surge coupler does look longer than others, the ball sleeve is in the very front of the head. I recommend using the Hitch Lock and Adjustment Pin Lock Set # FA86-00-4200 to secure the hitch and adjustable ball to your tow vehicle. This will help prevent someone from stealing this ball mount and allow you to keep it...

  • Can Titan 21K Bolt-On Coupler be Used for a 14K Trailer
  • As long as your adjustable bolt holes are 2" apart (see attached photo) the Titan Bolt-On Coupler # T4855300 would be a great option! The coupler being rated for more than the GVWR of the trailer can actually be a good thing. Just be sure that you don't exceed the weight rating of your trailer as this will not increase the rating of your trailer unless your current coupler is the limiting factor.
